Free Nights 36

Our Rating:
Plan Term: 36 Months
Plan Type: Fixed Rate

This is a pretty decent time of use plan for "Free Nights." The rates are low across all usage tiers of 500, 1000, and 2000 kWh. Of course, the $9.95 monthly base charge is very high for the market, and probably what makes the lower rates possible. The 11 PM window for free energy starts pretty late compared to some other plans, so folks who can schedule their appliances and/or have an electric vehicle to charge make the most sense for this plan. The cancellation fee of $15 per month remaining on contract is also nice.
thumb_upPros:
This is a pretty good Time of Use Plan, with free nights, and a decent rate accross all tiers of usage. 100% green energy.
thumb_downCons:
This plan has a $9.95 monthly charge, which is pretty high adds almost $120 a year to your electricity bills.

GridEdge 36

Our Rating:
Plan Term: 36 Months
Plan Type: Bill Credit

This plan is good for a very specific segment of customer, namely those that qualify for the bill credit but don't use that much energy more than the bill credit. Otherwise the high energy charge will bite customers on the low and high end of the energy consumption spectrum. If you can be sure you control your usage and hit the window every month, this is a good plan for you. Probably someone with a medium sized home, but doesn't have a pool.
thumb_upPros:
$90 bill credit at 1,000 kWh of usage. 100% green energy. No monthly recurring charge.
thumb_downCons:
Really expensive Energy Charge, expensive if you don't hit that bill credit.
